Integrated Vector Managment (IVM)
Integrated Vector Management (IVM) is a rational decision-making process which seeks to improve efficacy, cost-effectiveness, ecological soundness and sustainability of vector control. The ultimate goal of IVM is to prevent the transmission of vector-borne diseases to the public by using scientifically-driven techniques. There are five major components of IVM:
- Public Outreach
- Mosquito Surveillance and Testing
- Physical Control
- Biological Control
- Microbial and Chemical Control
